I started bringing my labrador on holiday with us a few years ago. I used Brittany Ferries, sailing between Portsmouth and St Malo,as I found it had the most convenient sailing times, and good entertainment, with dog kennels on the top deck. We used some hotels on the way down, but also chose to use a camping firm called Yelloh Village. We towed a caravan, but since our dog has passed away, we still use Yelloh village without the caravan but stay in lodges. Its worth doing a search online for Yelloh Village...they have about 100 camping sites throughout Europe although mainly in France.

Do get your International Driving Permits before you leave. Obviously, one for Spain and, if your driving through France, one for there too. You never know, they might be needed soon
