Don't believe anything that developers tell you that you can't see with your own eyes. There are so many commercial centres that are still not built or are still an empty shell (like the Pueblo Bravo ones) that have been promised by developers to help sell properties. I'm sure the news of the possible new Consum on the Lemon Tree road has sold a few of those new modern villas along there. Seeing is believing in Spain. Can't wait for our new Theme Park in Murcia to regenerate the area! How many years has that been on the cards? OK some do get built but don't hold your breath.

The builder has been claiming the pylons are coming down for 15 years, but they're not. My lawyer explained to me years ago that the cost of each pylon being brought down was around €500k and it could never be justified due to the price of the land.
The Atalaya area is nice and a great location. I have friends that live there and love it because it's quiet, yet so close to Quesada. However, I think anyone buying next to these pylons is mad. The future value of these houses will be nothing. The negativity regarding the pylons is not going to go away, it'll just get worse and eventually no one will want to be anywhere near them.
There are plenty of plots in the area that are not under pylons. I would strongly advise against anyone buying next to them. Sorry to be negative but if you have the choice, avoid them and buy elsewhere.

LornaG I admire your sense of trust and faith in the developer. I agree with Newchocs that your property will be worth almost nothing to a prospected future buyer. My advice is to look at other plots, if the developer says they have none then walk away. The next agent will discount you your loss so bringing you back to even. To buy a property under a monster pylon is I'm sorry to say madness. Please do your homework on the Internet and see what the health officials say about it. I wish you all the luck in your new home wherever it is.

DTR, yes , we were told by our Justo Quesada salesman, 9yrs ago that all the Electrical cables would be underground in two years time, thus no pylons!! We're still waiting for this to happen.
PS We are also still waiting for our snag list to be completed!!!

Thanks guys for input. We are not under the pylon. It is across the road from us so don't know if that will make a difference. We really liked the plot hence why we bought it.

11 years ago we were taken by an Agent to a big plot of land with houses being built in amongst lots of pylons. As we approached I said 'turn around please I don't want to go and view any houses here' The agent looked agast and said 'why' and I said 'the pylons' He couldn't believe it and laughed at me while trying to convince me to go and at least look at the houses. At least he didn't say they were coming down ...and as far as I know they are still there now!

There is only the one pylon which is across the road. The others are away in the distance. You know when you go to a place and you just feel it is right for you. That is how we felt when we went there. We were shown quite a few plots, a lot of different areas around the Oriheula Coast and quite a lot of houses both new and old. As soon as I walked into a place I knew right away it wasn't for me so some I didn't even bother looking round. So hopefully all will be ok with our property. As for losing value, we don't intend moving until we are carried out in our boxes  :P ;)

I don't wish to be the merchant of doom and gloom on this subject, but if I was LornaG, I would definitely read up the reports on cancers and there link to overhead pylons. A report that was in the news several years ago was warning people of certain types of cancer linked to these pylons. I would hate to think of anybody realising their dream of a better life in the sun, to be put at risk by the unscrupulous builders and estate agents trying to unload properties on the unsuspecting public with a complete disregard for their well being. I agree with those who posted that they promise you everything but deliver nothing, please be careful, and check out the builders advice on the removal of this pylon with your solicitor. Good luck for your future move, wherever it may be.
