Hi all,
I am new to this forum but it does sound friendly. I will be coming to La Mata area in two weeks for three months as a trial for me and my little dog to see if we want to eventually settle in the surrounding area. I like the look of Quesada but from reading it looks as if I will need transport and I am afraid I do not drive. So am I correct in my conclusion please?

Unfortunately the one thing we are lacking here is public transport. One bus a day to Torrevieja and a few to Guardamar (not the beach, though). Rojales is a bit better served but, depending on where in Quesada, it can be a bit of a hike to get there. There is a bus to the Rojales market on Thursdays from Quesada.
If you are reliant on public transport then La Mata will be fine but other parts of Torrevieja have an excellent service, La Siesta, San Luis at one side and then the Orihuela Costa area on the other,
Quesada's advantage is that it is an all year round town whereas the others tend to turn into ghost towns in the winter months (Torrevieja population around 100,000 which increases to around 600,000 in the summer should give you and idea).

ooh thanks for quick reply marcliff so it sounds like Quesada will leave me too cut off. I'm going to see if I have the confidence to bus it to different areas to check them out. I have chosen this area as they have a choice of the two airports for my daughter to visit if I make it a permanent home, but I have never been to mainland Spain even on holiday so it will really be a voage of discovery! Torrevieja sounds a litlle to hectic for me but I would like to mix with some expats if I could, not to feel isolated. On another forum they have said that the buses do allow dogs on I hope thats correct?

I recently lost my husband and wondered if there was anyone in the same position as me in the Quesada area, it would be nice to meet for coffee and days out.

La Mata is quite nice worth a look, also Torrevija is big but some really nice areas out of the centre so don't rule out.
All the best

As I understand it, only guide dogs are allowed on buses. However, as with all things, they do things differently here. I have seen small dogs being carried on a bus, small dogs in shopping baskets and even in handbags. I guess it would depend on the size of the dog.

Have you considered La Marina Urbanization, ex pats English speaking Germans, Dutch and Spanish, regular buses to Alicante, and Torrivieja plenty of bars restaurants and supermarkets.
