Do you accept that's there's going to be a really heavy price to pay economically, and that, if you've retired, some of your family and friends might lose their jobs as a result and there'll be a lot more years of austerity, but that's a price worth paying, or, do you think it's project fear and it'll be all fine (even if there are a few initial hiccups) I'm genuinely interested.

To be honest, I'm the wrong person to ask....I'm a out and out optimist . I really think that no-one, not even the so-called experts know. But look at all the other countries in the world, they all manage. We may have to adjust to some unwelcome tariffs and maybe some different procedures but we will all be ok, the world isn't going to end.

Obviously you are quite happy Tony-Tri and can afford to lose over €200 in every thousand. I know I can’t and Brexit is totally responsible.

Is all this hot air adding to climate change?
Its a gota fria in the making.!!
Lol
Interesting thread, I truly believe business will find a way- and the uk economy landscape may change-(as it did after the miners strikes etc).but will prevail.
I believe for the general population change is seen as a threat and uncertainty as dangererous, rather than exciting and progressive, which Brexit will be.

Referring to Boris's actions as undemocratic is surely untruer or it would not be allowed in law,and as I understand it he has not been arrested.I think he has a game plan to deliver the mandate and this is part of it.
We have procrastinated for 3 years and May has flip flopped her way through a maze of trials and tribulations in a short time as PM without the fortitude to deliver a strong message to Brussels...Boris is now delivering that message..

I wish I could afford to lose €200 in every 1000, but unfortunately I'm not yet eligible for state pension and I live on a tiny private pension plus my council widow's pension and a little bit in savings. Fortunately I don't believe it's all doom and gloom - as I said I'm an optimist.

Once you come up with a trick to start by-passing parliament, because the majority of MP's might not agree with you, what's to stop you doing it a second time, with something else? And then again, a third time, and so on? The Nazis passed The Enabling Act of 1932 to allow them to bypass the Reichstag. That was cloaked as "the will of the people" as well. Those that fail to learn the lessons of history and all that.

You are not being melodramatic about it. It is an outrage and the reference you make to the 1930's 'Enabling Act' is frighteningly valid. Many serious commentators have raised this and constitutional experts are appalled. The Financial Times Editorial calls it an 'act of constitutional vandalism' and makes a parallel-see this extract:

Sorry, but this is being melodramatic, the Enabling act was something forced in by Hitler so he could suppress those that got in his way. BJ has done nothing of the sort, he has simply asked the queen to suspend Parliament for an extra few days before the conference season.

Probably a motive in it to stop those who have un-democratic for the last three years trying to stop Brexit.

He's pulled their pants down and played them at their own game...Good ol' Boris

Good ol' Boris
Good old Boris has been sacked twice for lying. He has been recorded having a conversation conspiring with another person to have a journalist beaten up. Boris isn't even called Boris by his mates. They call him Al. Boris is his persona, adopted to make him more palatable to the general public. The hair and the bumbling and the latin quotes are all part of that persona. We don't actually know who the real Boris is.
