Posted: Wed Mar 03, 2021 4:30 pmWhen we were working in other countries we were considered expats - the underlying meaning being that we weren't there permanently. Immigrant seems to have taken on a somewhat negative shade, probably thanks to various media.
We just call ourselves residents. If there's a need to explain further we explain that we're here to stay.
But I agree with the majority of the other responses here - IMO it really doesn't matter, life's too full of good things to worry about labels.
