Please don't use anyone other than a qualified electrician!

Hi,
Just a query - We have had a few postings of people offering their services by answering topics asking for an electrician to put in sockets and other things. We always remove these posts as obviously electrical work needs to be done by a qualified electrician and unless it is a legally registered company or tradesman, there is no way of knowing that these people are fully qualified.

Please do not use someone who says they will put in sockets in or other electrical work, without personally checking fully that they are qualified and legally registered to work in Spain. It is really not worth the risk.

Maybe someone can clarify this for us and possibly explain how an electrician can be checked in Spain to see if he is fully qualified to work here.

How can an electrical installation certificate be obtained?
This can be done by contacting an authorised electrician; an authorised electrician here in Spain holds a ‘Carné de instalador’ (installer license). The installer must be registered with the ‘Ministry of Industria’ in order to obtain the required certificate. It is possible to check the validity of your installer online by visitingthe web address link and by pressing the button ‘Seleccionar Municipio’ and simply type in your town name (Rojales) and select from the list. Then at the bottom of the page press the button ‘Buscar’ the results will show all of the registered installers in that town, and their qualifications.

HTH. Of course, any "qualified" electrician can carry out work. However, the work has to be signed off by a registered electrician who issues a "boletin" (a low voltage installation certificate).

Rojales, Guardamar and Torrevieja has loads of contacts.
