Reminder -NO contact details on forum for your security!

As we have had a number of new members recently, we thought it could be a good idea to clarify the following:

Just a quick reminder to members who may be thinking about posting their phone numbers and email addresses for other members to contact them. Please do not include phone numbers/ email addresses or, need we say, home addresses or personal comings and goings. In fact anything that could identify who you are or where you actually live can be seen by anyone and everyone if posted on any public forum.

  • Contact can be made very easily & confidentially, through this site, by registered members clicking on the PM (private message) or the envelope (email) icon under the name of any member posting or if using a mobile just clicking on the members name. Using this facility keeps all email addresses/phone numbers/home addresses private and gives you the choice of passing on any contact or other details on a one to one basis.
  • All private contact details posted on any public domain are there for anyone to use in any way they wish (some unscrupulously!), including spam emails & time wasting sales phone calls - Most of us get too many of those already and there really is no need to add to them.
  • Never ever include home addresses - Home addresses given out on any public domain are even more of a security risk for obvious reasons!
  • If an Admin see home addresses, phone numbers or email addresses, they will be removed at the first opportunity, for your privacy & security.

Please think before posting!

All posts can be edited by the member who wrote them, to remove any unwanted information, at any time.

Please think when posting. The private message/ private email system is there for a good reason. To keep you as safe as possible when passing on personal details on a one to one basis.

Thank you to all members who report posts like these, it helps keep the forum safer as they can then be removed quicker.

Report button (for any posts considered unsuitable/unnecessary or unfriendly etc) is beside all posts for those who may not know.

Hope this helps!

Jan.

I think that on any forum - even such a well run forum as this - you have to take precautions. Not all forums have personal e-mail facilities, but when they are available they definitely should be used!

I'm sorry but I must put this reminder on yet again as some members are continuing to post contact details!!

If you wonder why these are being removed, please read the first post on this topic above.

It's for your own security! To clarfy, any personal details placed on any public forum can potentially be seen all over the world!

For some reason we have had loads more posts recently with telephone numbers and email addresses on. There has also been quite a number of members who are posting their addresses on the open forum - A few have even given their full address and written things with it like " We are out all day until 5pm" or similar... . Do they not realise that this could give any prospective burglars an opportunity?!

We cannot understand why anyone would post contact details on a public forum that can be seen anywhere in Spain and in the world, when there are secure private message & email facilities through the forum.

However, we have lots of new members who may not realise that this is a public forum and can be seen by anyone. Therefore, just re-sending this reminder - Please read or re-read for your own safety and security.

Thank you.

Also if an item has no price - we will delete with no notification (We do not accept 'make an offer' on our free selling site). If you find your item for sale topic missing then this is probably what's happened.
