Driving to Benijofar

I'm thinking of driving to Benjiofa, this will be the first time driving there. I would like to drive through France taking in some of the scenery. Not in a rush, want to avoid toll roads if at all possible, and intend to make the most of it by stopping over night in B&Bs. Does any one have any suggestions please on a route and where to stop over. Like I say not in a rush, intend to take 2/3 days.
Thank you

That's my route also. I use Premier Classe hotels in France, basic and clean and very affordable and near the motorways.

Would be very interested to know how you get on. We are moving over next year and considering driving but we will also have 2 dogs and a cat and not sure what route we will be taking yet.

We are driving over in a few weeks time using the route Freddo has suggested. We leave Yorkshire Friday evening with the ferry crossing early Saturday morning then an overnight stop at F1 in Bordeaux Saturday, arriving in Heredades Sunday evening. We both drive so like to get there as quick as possible then take it steadier on our return. Coming back we have hotels booked in lloret de Mar, Pointiers and Bergues

Does anyone book their hotels/BB before or just turn up and hope they have rooms available?
