Nothing to do with Quesada (or Spain) - BBC Top earners

Is there a gender bias at the BBC?

Only two of the top 15 on-screen earners are women and only two thirds of those earning over £150,000 are women.

Are the men (or their agents) better at negotiating their contracts or are the genuinely better at their jobs?

Personally I don't think Soccer pundit Alan Shearer is worth more than Antiques Roadshow host Fiona Bruce among others.

BBC’s top 15 earners

1 Chris Evans £2.2m - £2.25m
2 Gary Lineker £1.75m - £1.8m
3 Graham Norton £850,000 - £899,999
4 Jeremy Vine £700,000 - £749,999
5 John Humphrys £600,000 - £649,999
6 Huw Edwards £550,000 - £599,999
7 Steve Wright £500,000 - £549,999
Joint 8 Claudia Winkleman £450,000 - £499,999
Joint 8 Matt Baker £450,000 - £499,999
Joint 9 Nicky Campbell £400,000 - £449,999
Joint 9 Andrew Maar £400,000 - £449,999
Joint 9 Stephen Nolan £400,000 - £449,999
Joint 9 Alan Shearer £400,000 - £449,999
Joint 9 Alex Jones £400,000 - £449,000
10 Fiona Bruce £350,000 - £399,999

At least Shearer knows his stuff, Bruce's only purpose is to front a few experts.

I doubt, if the independent broadcasters published their pay rates, there'd be much of a difference, so I cannot understand why the Beeb was forced to publish theirs.

Absolute nonsense...it's money for nothing. I just wonder how much a Neurosurgeon gets paid. Get real Chris Evans...The whole BBC Edifice needs tumbling down. The best Radio show I have ever tuned into is Peter Hurst on TKO right here in Quesada and it's environs and he travels to work (weather permitting) on a scooter.

Because it's a company paid for by public subscription (well, a tax really as you have to have a licence whether you watch it or not).
Natasha Kaplinskly was paid £159,000 a year at the Beeb. She moved to CH5 and was paid £1 million a year. She now works part time at ITV and only gets £300,000 a year.
Nice work if you can get it.

I call it obscene when a no talent DJ can get 2.2 million and the PM gets paid less than £150k. Mind you with the last couple of plonker PMs we have had maybe its OK!! :(

Quite a few occupations pay more than the PM gets.

I think the reason the pay declaration came about was that joe public who were continuously being forced to pay a licence fee for sub standard programmes voiced their concerns on where the money was actually being spent. NOW WE KNOW.
