You can't just walk away from a divorce it has to be settled one way or another. Perhaps when we had the vote people who voted out didn't do their homework on the rules.

It's about making an "example" of us to deter others from ever thinking about doing the same - and in those circumstances you need to "fight dirty" to have ANY chance of getting something like a result.

I think you will find that most who voted out did more homework then those who just voted to stay in. The problem is that the bureaucrats in Brussels are bending the rules to suit them and dissuade other members from leaving.

It would be so much better to just say up yours and leave but they are politicians and just love playing these games. To hell with the ordinary citizens.

Anyone who though the European Union would bend over backwards to help the UK to leave must be crazy...

Of course it would be difficult... but I don´t think anyone though it would be this difficult...God only knows how much it has cost the UK up to now... and so far nothing has been decided..

.. the Tory party was doing OK before the referendum.. now they look like a load of incompetents who couldn´t run a "party" in a brewery..

..

I agree Mondo but why they make a mountain out of a molehill is beyond me. Why not just get a bunch of neutral accountants/lawyers, say from Canada or USA, to go through the figures and say right that's what you owe. Agree to keep EU an UK citizens rights living abroad the same as now and then just get on to the tricky questions like the Irish border and trade tariffs. Done in less than 2 years.

No, that would be far to logical. All politicians these days are incompetent imo. Rant over.

I agree... but you can´t blame a guy for trying to get the best deal for his people can you?

And what if the neutral guys said the UK owes 100 billion?... The public would go mad..

.

Definition of a politician:

A person who always wanted to be in business but not risk their own money and if it all goes wrong still have a big pay packet and pension, not to mention private (paid for) health insurance and 1st class travel.

I found this earlier..."David Cameron rejected calls for a referendum on his country’s continued membership of the E.U. in 2012, but announced less than a year later that his Conservative government would hold one if re-elected in 2015.".

My question would be - who made those "calls"?

If it was the public, and Cameron promised to hold one if re-elected, then he kept his promise. I take it there was something wrong with that, then? Presumably everyone would have been perfectly happy if he'd said, "Only joking - we're not having a referendum now"?!

No-one FORCED anyone to vote "leave"...and STILL - no-one on THIS forum knows FOR CERTAIN what's happening in the negotiations...we're all only getting the information given to the media!

Nice try

Lawyers and accountants would keep this show running as long as possible and hand us a massive bill at the end. And we’d still have a bill to settle with the EU.

The Daily Mail will be along shortly with more ‘stories ’ to become indignant over as we edge ever closer to fascism.

The problem with the EU Club, is that it is and always has been about the (certain) European countries, Britain never has and never would be treated as equal, think back over the years to the butter mountains, the excess of produced farm foods that were literally given away amongst the European buddies but was denied to the people of Britain. I also have never ever come across any club, where if you didn't want to join, they forced you to vote 3 times until they get what they want, (Irish Republic). I feel that the reason that they really want the excessive departure bill from the UK is that the Euro has never been able to balance it's books, and this is yet another scam by France and Germany, (sorry, certain european countries) to stick the boot in to Britain.
