I'm happy to live under a socialist government.

I fully expect Britain to be getting one soon.

See in one sentence their you demonstrate your complete lack of understanding about politics, and in particular Marxism and socialism, and thier relationship to fascism.

SOcialism (ie left wing fascism) has collapsed or wrecked every country its been tried in, including Afghanistan , Albania, Angola, Benin, Bulgaria, Cambodia, Congo, Czechoslovakia, Ethiopia, East Germany., North Korea, Mongolia, Mozambique, Poland, Romania, Somalia, The ENTIRE Soviet Union of 15 countries, North Vietnam, South Yemen , Ukraine, and every region of the old Yugoslavia

So, throughly tested, found to fail in every instance. Venezuela is the current socialist basket case in the news thats in the proces sof starving its citizens to death and collapsing. But there are others currently undergoing the same inevitable systemic collapse. Indeed what you are currently watching in the EU is the slow motion collapse of socialism/marxism - as just witnessed by the collapse of the socialist vote in Spain and the fact they lost their parlimentary majority. wait till the EU elections, that'll be a left wing bloodbath......

Firstly, this is not really a political site. There are others around which you might be happier on as you are going down like a lead balloon on here.

Secondly, especially as you have now decided to make things up to fit your narrative. The collapse of the socialist vote in Spain? Really don't know much about Spain, do you. The PSOE gained, not lost, 38 seats from the previous election.

Vox (which is, by the way, rather a far right party) took seats but at the expense of the PP which is the right of centre conservative party in Spain.

Oh, and the socialist did not have an overall majority before this election, far from it. They took over with a large minority after the conservative leader (Rajoy) was booted out. In fact, Spain hasn't had a majority government for the last 3 general elections and even went through a period when they had no government at all.

And don't equate the socialists in Spain with the other lot you mention. They are almost in the centre compared to the likes of the UK Labour party at the moment.

I think the original post is a valid one. It was about the Spanish elections.

The right wing are anti-immigration and anti-feminism etc.. and for those of us who live here that could be concerning. Many posts on Social Media and forums have been saying that the far right are taking over Europe, the EU is disintegrating and the euro will soon fail.

The vote in Spain suggests otherwise. Indeed Sanchez said that the vote was vote for the EU... so he sees Europe as a good thing.. as do Scotland who want to join the EU..(as did 16,000,000+ British at the Referendum)

The government last year were very supportive of the British in Spain and I am happy that the same government is still in power.

It should be reassuring for all Brits living in Spain.

Discussions about politics can be useful and informative.

Let´s all be polite and reasonable in our posts..

I think John Cleese observed and discussed this “lead balloon” phenomenon earlier....

“The problem with people like this is that they are so stupid,” explained Cleese, “they have no idea how stupid they are.”
“You see, if you’re very very stupid, how can you possibly realize that you’re very very stupid?” he continued. “You’d have to be relatively intelligent to understand how stupid you are.”
“There’s a wonderful bit of research by a guy named David Dunning, a friend at Cornell I’m proud to say, who’s pointed out that in order to know how good you are at something requires exactly the same skills as it does to be good at that thing in the first place,” Cleese continued, “which means – and this is terribly funny – that if you are absolutely no good at something at all, then you lack exactly the skills you need to know that you are absolutely no good at it.”
Continuing, he connected that concept to Fox News.
“And this explains not just Hollywood, but almost the entirety of Fox News.”
