Surely changing to 'actor' is sexist in itself, implying that being an actress is somehow inferior? Why change manhole, it refers to mankind. Reasonable enough surely? Chairman, fireman are job descriptions; could be men or women. People finding problems where none exist very often actually seem to be part of the problem themselves, don't you think? Thought I'd just add my two-penny worth sitting here in the sunshine in Croatia. Hope the thunder and rain has stopped fr all of you back in Quesada!

An aside, but on the subject of evolving language..

When listening to (mostly) left wing millennials on TV, for example newspaper reviewers, I've noticed a very irritating grammatical trend.
Notably they regularly drop consonants when speaking - like a trendy slang.
Occasionally they forget themselves and pronounce a word correctly!
It's seems like a code they use to prove their lefty credentials.
