Great read, my fave was cinder toffee, but on bonfire night treacle toffee won hands down. A real treat was walnut whip, I got one of those every now and again. The 1960/70s does seem a long long time ago 50-60 years ago does seem a different age, almost a different planet...

The driver and clippie fed and watered us and took us home. We used to be out for the whole day going up and down the Mall, Downing st (When you could) Traffalgar Sq, anywhere it was such an adventure. We were only 10 and 12 no mobile phones for mum and dads to check up on you. Never got told off. Great times.

Used to do these every school holiday with my cousins too. We once spotted Arthur Askey around Trafalgar Square and "stalked" him! We were only aged 10 -12 but we were star struck :)

All our family lived close together so I hung around with my cousins who were right little sods. The boys had pea shooters and used to target the clippies on the buses and then run away.
