Has anyone found a way of getting car insurance to drive a relatives car whilst in the UK for a visit, despite having a Spanish driving licence. We passed our driving tests in the UK prior to moving here.

It depends how long you've lived outside UK with 10 years being max. I personally paid £460 for 3 weeks cover after AXA advised the 10 years limit.
Lot of money but sometimes freedom of movement trumps cost. Having said that I'll be doing lot more investigation before next trip !

Thank you for the replies. My childrens insurance company won't cover us so I guess we'll have to research varipus UK companies to see.

Not true, there is no hard and fast rule on the matter.

You can draw a parallel with hire car companies who are totally free to impose age limits on would be renters.
