Hi, unbelievably our Mac returned home yesterday 4 weeks to the day he went missing, he's very skinny but ok, big thanks to all for your comments of support they were really appreciated.

Fantastic news. I know what it's like as our Gizmo did that to us years ago. He certainly let us know he was hungry when he got back!

Thank you all for the support.
Mac was missing for exactly 4 weeks to the day. Pity he cannot tell us what happened.We suspect he was locked in inadvertently by someone nearby who went on holiday. He is emaciated so he was not being fed, but to survive he must have had access to water possibly from a toilet. He is now recovering well and eating everything he can get his paws on, including the dogs' food.
