Los Altos.
Royal Park/La Cinuelica.

They are targeting houses that have been empty for some time but they are tapping into other people's electricity and water.

How would we recognise a squatter from a legitimate occupier. From you examples, is there a specific nationally that tend to squat and what should we look out for?

In this whole area there are plenty of houses that are left empty for long periods of time.
That is what is making it attractive to squatters.

theres quite a few squatters in the ROJALES AREA, watching empty houses, they seem to be Spanish gypsies,romanian/eastern european gangs of male adults.

Just as I thought. A year or so back an empty house opposite us (empty for eleven years with a bank’s phone number in the window) was receiving a lot of attention from half a dozen, or so, guys matching your description. Palm trees were being hacked back, snapped Eurolocks, sheared padlocks we’re visible and a grille had been levered back. But the whole effort didn’t smack of professionalism. The guys were a ragtag bunch and their vehicles appeared to be long overdue for scrapping.

I rang the bank and allerted them to my suspicions before we went out shopping. On our return, a liveried van was parked outside and the place was being secured once again.

I’m glad that I ‘stuck my nose in’ as the consequence of having an undesirable bunch in the area might have led to an increase in crime locally
