it seems to happen when there are a lot of building works going on, not sure where this person lives on Doña Pepa but it could be near builders....can I add that not all builders are thieves but they do have friends!!!

We too were broken into last night (around 10.30ish). We were out celebrating my husband's 70th b'day. Not the best end to the day. Again, they got into the house via the balcony, grill, patio doors. They smashed the safe open on the landing floor. Thankfully nothing was taken -they were after cash and were not interested in credit cards, passports etc.

Feel sorry for you, had it 29 years ago and never stoped thinking about it.
Do not let them chase you away, Karma will do the rest!!!

Wish you a lot of courage

best to have nothing worth pinching...

no cash, jewellery, fancy watches, iphones, laptops cameras, etc etc...

These scumbags will know if your place or your neighbours is worth their time and effort...

Sorry to hear what happened Butch , just curios , have you brought your safe recently or could you have been overheard talking about your safe ?

It seems to me when building increases so does the crime . Old boy in Laurel and Hardy's (now Coopers) told me years ago , "whatever you buy son , new build / resale property - before buying anything for the property get all the locks changed - you just don't know who's got a set of keys. Also just be careful who you talk too and make sure no ones listening ."

I also don't trust the "looky looky men" around town - they are people watching every time they enter a bar/restaurant - and they just love to ask people questions - especially when they are 3 parts in the wind " you are my friend , how long you here for , where do you live ? " - while looking at their watch , jewellery and car keys on the table . Seen it with my own eyes .

Any way enough of my cynicism , chin up Butch and to the other that have been burgled - try not to let this scum get you down .

Thank you for all your positive comments. We have encountered a few nasty people that told my husband off for chasing them through their community. He did shout out what he was doing but obviously the president wasn’t too pleased. Shame on you people, we should all stick together and make it a safe place for us all.
Anyway cup half full, we were lucky no one got hurt. Thanks again people let’s all stamp out this scum.

So sorry you've (& others) have had to endure what I think is one of the worst experiences, glad that you had your goods retrieved & thanks to your neighbors - Shame on those shouting at him - just wait & see what'll happen if it happens to them. You are quite correct in that we all need to look out for each other - these buggars are always lurking - be safe everyone. Thank-you for posting to make others aware :)
