Long shot but I am wondering if anyone knew if the Spanish banks in particular Bankia are offering holiday payments on mortgages with regards to COVID 19

Yes all banks come under the government announcement of a 3 months mortgage moratorium for those being laid off due to corona virus. It applies to employees and self employed. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.theoli ... risis/amp/

This is the documentation you will need to furnish.

A moratorium on mortgages - or any other loan - consists, in short, of offering the client the possibility of deferring the mortgage payments for a period of time. In the case of the moratorium approved yesterday by the Government, that period will be one month
It is only for a Main Home

Yes, as jpeg says:
The moratorium on mortgages due to the coronavirus is designed, as stated in the Royal Decree approved by the Executive, for debtors in situations of "vulnerability". Therefore, it will not be a universal moratorium, but for workers or self-employed who have a mortgage on their first home and are within certain economic and family parameters.

Second home owners (holiday homes) will not be eligible and is only for those who become unemployed due to the pandemic or are self employed and are unable to work because of the pandemic, neither of which will apply to non-residents.

Sorry for my misinformation. The Spanish moratorium is only for a month. Ibm was thinking of the Irish legislation. Now 1 month is just putting extra work and pressure on people who are already experiencing financial wipeout. Why not be more realistic and say 3 months and extend it to all loans and all types of mortgages and even rent for those caught up in this. To think that everyone will be back working in a month's time is to live in la la land. I would expect a lot more from a Socialist Government.
