Quaranteening before the Day 2 test

What if we are going to a funeral in UK, but have nowhere to quaranteen before the day 2 test? Do we have to stay in a government designated hotel or can it be somewhere like a Travel Lodge?

Yes, you will have to stay wherever you are getting a Day 2 test sent to. So a hotel is fine, but you will have to tell the hotel in advance that you are self isolating until you receive yourDay 2 test result. Obviously you are not allowed out of your room for food, so that too will have to be organised through the hotel.

Or you can get your day 2 test done at the airport as soon as you arrive in the UK. Then you maay get the results the next day and you’ll be free to come and go as you please.

I had to go back to the UK for my mum's funeral last week, had test done at Manchester Airport when we landed, drove to my daughters to wait for results, they were sent to me the next morning when I got up, so within 12 hours .
