This is not UK. This is Spain and the covid and flu seasons come at different times.
The plan is to ensure everyone at risk due to existing conditions or due to age will have the maximum protection that won't wane before the main viral seasons start.
It's why the flu vaccines are given later in Spain every year as well.
There are plenty of vaccines to go around in Spain, giving them too early will mean they will not afford the correct level of protection when required.
Same reason Spain didn't "panic" and took WHO advice on not giving a 4th vaccine too soon as they would now be on the fifth (like UK) and people would get fed up of popping down every few months which would lower the vaccine take up. They have waited until the new vaccine which is supposed to protect against the newer strains. Judging by the low number of cases, hospitalisations and deaths (there were 2 in the Valencia Community last week, one aged 78 and one aged 84) they must be doing something right. It also accounts for the fact that Spain has a greater take up of the vaccines than most other countries.
Perhaps people who don't like the way Spain is carrying out its procedures should just toddle off back to UK and stick their arms out for their 5th or 6th vaccine and treat it like a competition rather than a medical procedure.
