Hi, Can anyone recommend a few sightseeing trips within 2 hours drive of Quesada please? We fancy getting out and about in our car this time. Thanks, Rose

Cartagena definitely....
Park - pay parking - under the dockside, then walk up the hight street, climb up past the Roman theatre, over the top to see the coliseum from above, and down to port again.
Visit some of the museums there - Museum of modern art, subaqua archaeology musem, etc.
And take a scenic route back over the Sierra Minera - mining hills, past the ruins of the silver mines - and along the Mar Menor.

Just found an amazing place (El Cau) to north of Elche - about 35 minutes away where a guy has spent years carving things into the hillside.
BUT for those that find it dificult to find the artist caves in Rojales, this place will be nearly impossible!
I will be pasting more photos and will see what I can do about adding instructions etc for those that want to find it.
Meanwhile for more info, google 'Mariano Ros sculptures, Elche'
I attach one of the hundred or so photos I took giving an over view of part of the area.

No afraid not...
I was using apple maps - but it didn't help that motorway exits have all been renumbered and part of the motorway is closed near Elche.
I tried to set my SatNav when I was there, but no signals!? (Could be because its on flightpath of airport?)
But will find it on google maps and see if I can get coords from there.
ALSO near there is the spectacular waterfall dam of the Elche reservoir - Rio Vinolopó.
Co-ords for that are: 38.304514, -0.721052, but road had 'no motor vehicle' sign, so will try finding route for that another day.

Ahah! Think I've found co-ords: 38° 19' 15.52" N 0° 41' 40.85" W
Last part of journey is on foot - 5 minute walk from car & there is a small parking area been created too.
But path is obviously a bit rocky too.
Here's a bit I've lifted from a website talking about the work:-
This is an old quarry in which a resident of Elche, Mariano Martinez Ros, created a leisure area with a series of sculptures in memory of his past mason without more help from some friends who admired his work have become his disciples. At first, Mariano began his work in another settlement closest to the swamp, but when dealing with an area of special interest, moved to its current location to avoid problems later. Anyway has gained from the change because in its current location has had vertical walls to work more comfortably and results also can be admired best. One of his early works were his self-portrait and a plaque with your data. His main inspirations are those related to Elche and its traditions. Commemorative work of the two Heritage of Humadidad that has Elche. The Mystery that is celebrated in the Basilica of Santa Maria and the Palm. Ros Tower is one of the last works of his that I've seen that is a little older and already there are several works of his disciples.
