Semana Santa - Holy week - Easter Festivals 2012

Does anyone have the actual dates & times yet for the Semana Santa festivities this Easter in Rojales or Quesada? The Rojales Ayuntamiento website, strangely, or maybe not so strange for Spain, has not been updated for festivals since Oct 2011, as far as I can see. I have been looking at the website for a few months now and even the Christmas celebration dates did not appear to be shown.

However, I have found these dates on the internet but not sure if they are the same all over Spain:

Semana Santa 2012 Dates
Viernes de Dolores March 30, 2012
Sábado de Pasión March 31, 2012
Domingo de Ramos April 1, 2012
Lunes Santo April 2, 2012
Martes Santo April 3, 2012
Miércoles Santo April 4, 2012
Jueves Santo April 5, 2012
Viernes Santo April 6, 2012
Sabado de Gloria April 7, 2012
Domingo de la Resurrección April 8, 2012 The same day as the English Easter Sunday. The most important day in Semana Santa 2012

Does anyone have any idea why the Rojales town hall website is not updated? The last Fiesta date shown is October. Am I the only one who gets frustrated at this lack of information? Surely it is good for the area to show dates of events in advance. It only takes a few moments for someone to update the website every now and again....sorry I'm on my soap box again

Not a soap box issue Jan, just hard facts. One of the reasons for the lack of info coming from the Town Hall is that since the change of government in May 2011, PSOE (now the ruling party) simply can't be arsed to do it. They have a man -- Derek Monks-- who is supposed to be the liaison person for non-Spanish, but he hardly gets glowing reports for effort from people who have had dealings with him. As a whole, the PSOE/PADER alliance just don't like foriegners, so do as little as they can, while continuing to take our taxes to give them so beer tokens for stuff for the Spanish residents of Rojales. There is (?was) a very helpful guy in the Quesada "Munciple" centre called Jose Ramon, but don't know if he's still there. Useful for translating bits you don't understand

There is a very spectacular parade in Torrevieja on Good Friday evening (I think it's due to start around 19:30, but by experience it's normally about 21:00). Big show of beefy blokes physically carrying religious floats that each weigh a couple of tonnes. Bit intense, but shows the Spanish obsession with religion. Seats are set out up the streets, so you can park yourself while being holy

Re - The Rojales website - I should have guessed it was political Ozzy, it usually is I suppose!
Looks like lots going on for Easter in Torrevieja and Montesinos (Thanks Dot).
Does anyone know when the Rojales parades are yet and if there are any in Quesada?

Hi Jen,
Welcome to the forum. Hope you enjoy using it.
Rojales is quite a small town and the processions usually go through the main street and over the bridge. We find it best to park in one of the side streets off of 'Avda Constitution' or 'Avda Cortes Valencianas' just as you enter the town and then walk down towards the bridge area, which isn't very far. That way it's easier to get the car back out of Rojales if the streets get too crowded. We have not been to the silent procession but I imagine it could be quite moving. Hope this helps.

Hi Jen,
If you struggle to get parked in a side street there sometimes is room at the Mercodona supermarket on the way out of Rojales towards Marquesa golf. Its not that far.
