New Tapas Bar at Lo Marabu

I went there today (ex Manolo's) down by Lidl and Consum, with a friend. We emerged full up. We understood the system of charging by the type of cocktail stick etc - different ones have different prices etc. There is a large notice at the entrance to the bar to say how the system works. It is fine if you can speak Spanish. Most of the people there, were in fact, Spanish. It might help their business a tad if they put some translations up in different languages!

You can let the prices run away with you if you keep helping yourself to the hot food that comes around!! Between us we had 9 normal size sticks; 1 large stick; two diet cokes; two coffees and 1 "postre"!! The bill came to 23 euros. I came away full - so don't want anything else to eat tonight. We managed to spend 2 hours in there - and have now put the world to rights!!

I tried it because it is something different - but they will need to do those notices in English at least, if they are to attract people of all different nationalities

This is my last taste testing session of the holiday!! The party's over and back to England!! Still plenty of food left in my freezer!!

Hello Sandra,
You certainly sound as if you have had a trip full of culinary delights this time. Thank you for all your reviews. I will gladly carry on your good work for the next few weeks, only in the name of research of course, and also look forward to trying some of your recommended places.

Red Hot off the jungle drums!!!
There is to be a new bar near Consum, two doors up from "Spanglish", due to open next week or week after. it is going to be managed by "Steven"-- the Scots lad who worked on-and-off for ages in El Faro.
"Spanglish" started doing Sunday Lunch a couple of weeks ago, allegedly at €14.95 for a three-course(???????????).
Personally, as long as Faro continue to churn out reasonably priced beer and Tapas in a Spanish environment, I know where I shall frequent.., viva Rosa y Manola.

Good to hear of a new bar around at Consum but a decent restaurant would have been better - We now have 4 bars - a tapas restaurant & bar (Lizarran), a cafe/bar (Spanglish), the Faro bar and the new bar. With the only actual restaurant being the Chinese Wok around there, I'm not sure what we needed was another watering-hole. Let's hope it's a restaurant/bar.

Thanks for the 'hot off the press' news Ozzie.

Hi, that sounds good, Steven is ok, although El Faro is favourite.! I.m sure we must all have passed each other or even sat next to each other in some of these places!!

I agree with you, Dot - as have spent some interesting meal times at El Faro practising my Spanish!

Jan - have you thought about developing a TalkQuesada badge so that we might recognise each other if wandering in the vacinity of Consum?? I believe that you have a certain member of your family who is good with CAD!!

Great minds think alike Sandra, I was thinking something like that, but then we would have to remember to keep putting our badges on every time we go around the Consum area...Can't see it working really - Nice idea but we would probably look a bit silly too, sitting there with a badge saying something like... "Hello, I'm a member of the TalkQuesada forum". :geek: :ugeek:
