If you're going to fork out money on a router.

First what do you want it for .
!!! To extend the WiFi connection around your home. Then Ok but first check if it's capabilities are 2.4& 5.0 gig.
.........
If you want to put VPN on it then STOP
DO NOT PART WITH YOUR MONEY UNTIL YOU HAVE CHECKED UP ON WEATHER THE ROUTER CAN HANDLE VPN .CAN YOU UPGRADE IT YOURSELF ...
IS THIS OLD ROUTER STRONG ENOUGH TO HANDLE A WHAT YOU WANT.
THE ANSWER TO THESE QUESTIONS FOR A 2nd hand router are No
Sorry
IT WILL save you the worry

5gHz is only relevant if you have devices which work on that band, not all do.

These TP Link routers are okay, but the reality is that you’re unlikely to ever replace the router supplied by your ISP with one of these.
They are handy as wireless access points if you can run an Ethernet cable from your router to the place where you want to have a stronger signal, and if you are confident in disabling the routing functionality, switching off DHCP and assigning the same SSID and password as your current router uses - so devices roam seamlessly as you move around the house.

To be honest, they sell for a few euros at car boot sales, so €25 seems a tad steep.

Pete.
