I am thinking of selling my mortgage free rental property in the the UK and buying a property in or around Quesada.

I have a top end budget of 175,000 euros, could you please tell me what type of property would that figure allow me to buy.

Does it sound reasonable that i would i be looking at a properties valued at around 150,000, with 25,000 allowed for fees.

Thanks for any advice.

Have a look on the estate agents selling sites. No one knows what you are looking for. A simple net search for property in Quesada will get you going. Try a site called “Kyero”.

Many thanks for the reply, my post was more about the legal fees and other costs i would have to pay leaving X amount to buy a property.

I did not want to pay more than 175,000 all in. once i can establish if 25,000 or less will cover fees i can then start to look what type of property i can afford.

Cheers

Costs & fees add approx 13% on top of buying price

On a 2nd hand property a straight 10% stamp duty to the Govt.

Legal fees etc a further 3 - 4 %

If i were you i would keep your uk property and use the rent to rent in spain. There is no capital growth on property in spain plus as you are aware it will cost 15 to
20k in fees and taxes.
i wish someone had given me this advice years ago.

Many thanks for the reply. That is very sound advice and thinking about it its the right thing to do.
My first thought was to sell the rental and buy outright in Spain. My rental property in the UK gives me £650 per month with the added benefit of it rising in value.

Thanks for the information, It sounds like the higher the value of the property the more you pay out in fees
I can now see a clearer picture of costs involved. From what you are saying i would be looking at properties in the region of 160,000 euros with the additional 15,000 euros approx being taken up with fees.

No your calculation is not correct, the purchase tax alone on a 160,000 property would be 16,000 in the Valencian community.
