Spring is generally warm & sunny (can be as high as 19 - 23 C 66 -73F). Summers are hot with sunshine virtually guaranteed (as high as 73 - 88F 23 -31 C). Autumn is generally warm and Winters are mild and some winter days are sunny and warm but evenings can be cold at times (as low as 6C 45F). Daytime temperatures in Winter can be as high as 17 to 24C 61-63F or even higher in the sunshine. Rain is possible anytime but in Summer it is rare to get long bouts of rain. Summer rains, if they happen, are usually of short duration and are over as quick as they come, drying very fast. Autumn can have heavy rain on occasions and the heaviest can happen during a Gota fría. This is the name given to storms which sometimes take place in Spain after the hot summer months when the sea temperature is still high and the temperature in the upper air suddenly drops. The warm air rises and cools too quickly and the result is very heavy rain and high winds, often with thunderstorms. However, a Gota Fria generally only happens once or twice a year and sometimes not at all.
