Ariston gas boiler

We have an Ariston boiler which was fitted last year - not going back to the original installers (please don't ask!) - which is either very, very hot or very cold and can change in an instant. Gas is butano canister.

Can anyone recommend an Ariston engineer who might be able to help us?

Could be just your water flow check tap/shower filters first.

water flow seems ok, the pressure is fine anyway.

Are you using a thermostatic mixer tap?

Pete.

Normally flow rate is about 11 lt min run one tap at constant flow and see what happens if variations of temperature then needs repairs is it under guarantee

If the temperature fluctuations are being experienced in the shower, is the shower mixer (that you use to control the water temperature) a simple one that requires you to manually adjust the balance of hot and cold, or is it one where you set the temperature using a dial.
If it’s the latter then you have a thermostatic mixer.

The problem with a thermostatic mixer is that it will be competing with the boiler to control the temperature. When the mixer demands less hot water the boiler will turn off. The mixer then demands more hot water, and in the time it takes for the boiler to respond to this, the mixer tries to add more (non existent) hot water. When the boiler supplies the hot water that the mixer demanded, the mixer gives more hot water than you want. It then responds to this by demanding less hot water, so the boiler shuts off - and the cycle continues.

Pete.

No, we haven't got a thermostatic mixer its a simple turn the mixer tap to the left or right. The boiler was new but we don't have a receipt and not likely to get one as our 'friend' whose company did all the work will now not respond to any enquiries. Please don't anyone advise us on what we should do about them. We know what we should do but after a hellish year healthwise life is just too short to be messing about with some of the low life who are around! Another one chalked down to experience.............
I have had a company contact me so I'll ask for info on them on the forum before we get them to come to look at it.

I can't bring myself to do that to someone who was a friend - mad I know because it certainly hasn't worked both ways. I don't want to be the cause of his family being affected by his bad decisions.

All I can say is make sure you get recommendations from others before taking someone on - exactly what this forum is so good at helping with.

Thanks everyone.
