I have been old that we have to renew our padron every 5 years even if we don’t change address or we will lose our SIP card status. Is this correct?

Yes. You should get a letter from the ayuntamiento to tell you when it is running out. If not you can go and renew it yourself but there have been cases where people's SIP cards have been cancelled as they are not on the padron.

There are some sites that say you have to renew it every 2 years if you are a non EU citizen but, when I checked at the Rojales town hall, he told me every 5 years as residents are classed as EU citizens.

I went to Rojales ayuntamiento last Thursday without appointment and was seen straight away. My 5 years was supposed to be up on 23rd March but she said that renewal wasn’t in the system yet and to try again in April. She did however issue me with a new 3 month paper one so hopefully that will avoid my padrón being cancelled. I’d also heard only 2/3 years as non EU so good news it it’s still 5 years. All they needed to see was my TIE card
