There are four main beaches along the coast of Torrevieja and several rocky coves and natural swimming pools. Signs on the beach indicate what facilities are available on each beach .
All main beaches will have a red, yellow or green flag flying on a pole, indicating the safety conditions of the sea. Green indicates relatively safe bathing conditions, yellow indicates to take caution in the sea, red indicates bathing is dangerous and prohibited.
There is a large promenade, ideal for leisurely walks, from the south of Torrevieja to the north.
On the southern most tip of Torrevieja is the white sandy beach called "Playa de los Náufragos”,a little further into the town is the beach called “El Cura”. It has golden sand and is very popular as it is adjacent to the main town and is the nearest beach to all the shops, bars and restaurants of Torrevieja.
Slightly further to the North of the Torrevieja coastline, but still quite near to the town, is “Los Locos” beach. It has golden sand, plenty of facilities and bars and restaurants.
Further to the north of Torrevieja is the expansive beach area of Playa De La Mata. There is a lovely boardwalk here which runs along a beautiful white sand beach all the way into the town of Torre La Mata.
Torre La Mata or “La Mata”, as it is locally known as, is an unspoilt Spanish seaside town which over the years, as Torrevieja has expanded, has almost become a suburb of Torrevieja. There are beach bars, restaurants and shops along the beach side of La Mata nearer to the town.
