I have had two knee replacements which are not good , so getting in and out of car very difficult . Have a really good gadget called a car Kane which slots into car door to act as handle to help you out of car . As I only travel with hand luggage I am trying to find out if anyone has travelled with one in hand luggage and were there any issues at security . It is made from metal because it needs to be strong enough to hold weight . Have tried easyjet for info but no one knows !! Don't want it be confiscated at airport !! Any help or advice please . Thank you in advance

Hi I don't know what this is but if you take information on what it is with you I can't see a problem a few days ago we actualy brought some real door handles in solid brass from the uk and were pulled but when we told them what thet were no problem

I guess this might be one of the things they're advertising on UK TV at the moment. From what I gather, they have quite an evil looking spike on the end of them (the bit that fits into the metal slot on the car pillar), and I wonder whether that might be a problem.

We wondered the same - we were going to get some solar lights (the Powerbee ones) in the UK and bring them over, but they have a huge spike on the end!

I once failed to make it through an airport with an electric toothbrush because if you take the brush part off, it could be considered to be a weapon (although that WAS on a flight to the US), so you'd definitely need some clarification!!!

Why don't you just post it to yourself in Spain?

Pete.

Thanks for all the suggestions . Will think about posting it but then would have to post it back again . Wonder if they are sold in Spain then could buy one and leave it there .
Yes it is the one advertised on TV , it really is a godsend

Toastmaster, I know what your on about, you have 2 options, first pack it as normal and declare it at the check in desk before boarding, they will probably make arrangements to have it taken on by a member of staff and you collect it at the other end, (however make sure you know exactly who and where that member of staff will meet you I had a problem with this when I took a relatives heavy wooden walking stick on an easy jet flight some years back, wasted about 2 hours in airport trying to locate the whereabouts of it). Alternatively, pack it in its original box and carry it through security, some will let you through, some may not. there is a third option, try contacting the TV shop in Quesada, (I'm sure someone on this site will have their number) and see if they sell them, then you can leave that one in your property in Spain.

As they're only £15 each on eBay I'd order another then post it straight on to Spain without unpacking it.
I assume you're going to use this on a hire car? If so then you need to make sure it's not a Peugeot or Citroen as the standard Car Kane doesn't fit these.
Also, if you're driving then have you thought about the fact you'll be using it with the other hand to what you use in the UK? This might be a problem if that arm isn't as strong.
If you're using it as a passenger then it shouldn't be an issue because you could sit in the back on whichever side you want.

Pete.
