Flying home with Grandchildren

Just thought I'd give a heads up on the above subject.

Flew back into Stansted Monday with 2 of our Grandchildren after Easter Hols and had an interesting conversation at Immigration. As they are our Daughters children they had a different Surname and the Official queried as they had different names to us if we had written parental permission to fly with them.

Previously we had concerns on this and had always had a letter from our Daughter but after 6 years of no one being interested/bothered have not had one for the last couple . . . but it now seems that (at Stansted at least) immigration are taking a strong interest in it after some trafficking incidents and even have a stack of printed cards with requirements at the passport desk.
This states you must have a signed parental letter with specific travel itinerary with a copy of the parents Passport details page.

We got in OK after giving date of births etc. as a check and as they were clearly comfortable with us, but it seems things are tightening up now . . . .
