Ryanair is reducing its free check-in time from four days before flights to two days from Wednesday 13 June.

If you don't pay to reserve a seat will only be able to check in online from 48 hours to two hours pre-departure and if you don't check-in during this window, you will be charged £55-per-person to do it at the airport.

Also this must be done two hours before departure time.

WARNING Ryanair change check in times.

This sort of thing leaves a bad impression. OK, it's possible to check in online and print off boarding passes and/or use the app, but the two day window is blatantly intended to force people to pay extra to book seats. I can't think of any other reason for the reduction. Not everyone is computer literate.

What happens to people who are on holiday and don't have access to a printer two days prior to departure?

Their variable pricing is another frustration. The prices seem to change (sometimes significantly) daily.

Nothing wrong with trying to improve the revenue stream. The raison d’etre of the company is to maximise shareholder returns, not to be a charity for well off expats or tourists. Whilst it may seem like bad PR it works. Today you have air travel choices of “bad”, “even worse” and “total crap” smile and make the choice. :D
