ive been picking people up from Alicante airport that are not friends or relations and have recently been told that the police can fine you for doing this. Does anyone know if this applies to dropping people off ?
I have seen on several occasions airport staff taking registration numbers of cars stopping in the drop off area opposite costa coffee.

As long as you can prove you are not accepting money or payment in leui you are allowed to pick people up

It applies to pick up and dropping off - If they are not friends or family then this would be considered as a paid for illegal taxi - Big fines and confiscating of vehicles can happen in these cases.

Yes they do take registrations as it's unfair on the legal taxi drivers.

Some people get around this by using the Friends or Neighbours cars for the Airport Trip. Use the car park its very cheap.

I use the car park opposite the terminal to drop off and pick up family and friends, it’s so much less hassle, costs around €1-2 so a no brainier to me.

Last week, I waited opposite the old airport on the yellow lines, as I have always done in the past, whilst waiting for family or friends to come through customs etc
On this occasion I was booked by the police for it and it cost me 30€. I accept that I did break the law. In future, I shall use the car park if I get to the airport before receiving the phone call that they (family or friends) have arrived and are waiting for ME.
I thought I’d let others who wait there know that the police do now book you.

We always parked in the Car Park and went for a coffee while waiting. Why risk getting Booked for a few Euros.

Your number is taken every time you go in the car park or the drop off,as for the people parking outside the car park well for the sake of 2. € is it worth it blocking everybody else in one day the gruas will turn up and take them away
