Chargeback on Ryanair flight

Like so many other people’s, my refund for a Ryanair cancelled flight had gone into a black hole. Fed up with waiting, I thought I would give the Chargeback route a go. I phoned Lloyd’s bank this evening at 7pm and the refund was in my account about 2 hours later! It really was that easy! Before ringing I gathered the basics (what card I paid with, when I paid it, and the flight details and that was all I needed). I rang the number given on the Lloyds website for this type of transaction and was put on hold for about 15 minutes (with a message constantly telling me to go away unless it was urgent) of which I took no notice! I eventually spoke to an amiable young man who put me through without any kind of resistance to another Section, where a helpful lady took the details of my claim. It was then just a matter of being on hold while she processed the chargeback, which took another 5 minutes or so. She promised the money would be in my account the next day, but in fact was in my account a short while later. I really had expected a lot more angst! I guess it will depend on who one banks with, but I would certainly give it a go if anyone is still waiting for a refund. The lady warned me this is a dispute process so Ryanair could claw it back, but then I could counter claim etc. but I guess they would only do it with good reason.

The number to call at Lloyd’s is 0345 300 0000 and from abroad 44 1733 347007.

For anybody else that has cancelled Ryanair flights, my two Daughters both had flights booked, one to come to Spain the other to Rome and they have just both received their refunds this week.

Ryanair cancelled my August flights saying ‘refund in seven days’, then wrote encouraging me to rebook with a voucher valid for a year, this time saying I’ll get a refund “when the pandemic is over”. I’m a patient person so resigned to waiting...

I paid for mine via PayPal and went straight to them for my refund and got it very quickly, however just as quick came an email from Ryanair saying my voucher was not valid anymore!!

Everyone should contact their bank if they have paid by credit card they are using your money to stay afloat.

Santander 6 to 8 weeks for chargeback.Which I have claimed for for flights over £100 I've just had an email today from Ryanair money refunded in 5 to 7 days for money owed from March under £100 that can't be claimed back off credit card. So every bank is different.
