EasyJet makes changes to cabin bag policy from 10 February

I have just been notified by Easyjet that they are making a change to their cabin bag policy. I won’t go into all the detail as I’m sure it will be on the EasyJet website, but basically you can only have a small bag that goes under your seat unless you pay for one of the seats at the front that they have allocated for the size bag we can bring on now. They say it is for the sake of minimising delays! For those who have already booked you can take advantage of “hands free” whatever that is, for free or pay for hold luggage.

This post is for the people who will find this useful. I nearly didn’t bother posting it because this is bound to wake up the soapbox “how dare you fly” brigade but this is what this site was intended for originally and I post it in that spirit.

Yes, thank you for posting this. I think Easyjet is telling porkies and is trying to make more money for less customers! They cancelled our outbound flights but kept our inbound, yes we could change the outbound FOC but only to the same value and as they hadn't cancelled our inbound we would have to pay for changes to that!!! In the end I cancelled the lot.

yes i got the email yesterday as i have a flight booked for may 2021. they said because i booked my flight with a `carry on bag` before they made this new rule, i can print off the email they sent me, present it at the airport and have my bag placed on the plane at no extra charge. if i turn up without it i will be charged.

This is very similar process to what Ryanair did last year. I find the smaller bag size is enough for basics and I don't have to queue for ages to make sure there's space for my hand luggage.
