The town's Belen is being constructed by the Belenistas on the church square as usual and will open on 17th December.

Thanks Martin, I love these nativity scenes and will be going to look at the Rojales one, great to know when it opens... For anyone who doesn't know about them , there'll be one in Benijofar square and in Formentara and probably all the other villages too. They are nativity scenes but not just the crib etc but whole miniature villages, with clothes on washing lines etc. And somewhere in each of them will be a figure doing something a little rude...

Haha... Yes you have to look for 'caganer' - man doing a poo! :)
Various dates there will be a living belen in Elche acted by humans with a real baby, sheep, etc.
(Will try to give dates when I know them.)

Belens stay open to 3 kings day (6th January).
Worth seeing both in daylight and dark when some of the houses are lit etc.
Many moving bits like the Rojales water wheel etc.
