Talk Quesada forum

We had a fantastic introduction, to what eventually will be our permanent home, last week. We shopped till we dropped, bought 4 new beds and bedding, as well as new tv's etc etc and came back to the UK totally exhausted but triumphant. We love everything about the Spanish way of life and Quesada in particular.
We managed to fit in some really tasty meals out, as well as a fantastic Chinese takeaway, while doing our marathon shopping trip. My daughter reckons we have, single-handedly re-booted the Spanish economy!
What we didn't clean and scrub isn't worth mentioning and our lovely neighbours helped as well. We're really lucky to have them. We've got numerous family members visiting soon too but what I could really appreciate is a recommendation for a company that could give us a price for supplying and fitting new security grilles with the special coating that never needs re-painting, as well as a recommendation to a company that supplies and fits mosquito screening

Hopefully Rose (post above) you will have found you mosquito blind company by now as we have lots of recommendations on the forum and a Tradesman section on the homepage.

My Elderly In Laws Moved in about a month ago, New Villa Av. De Almeria.
We had a few days off and helped them move.

2 days ago my mother in law was rushed to Hospital and while they were at Hospital some **** broke into the Villa and stole all the Jewellry.

We are now in the process of coming over again to try to get the place Secure.

I think he is having Securitas fit an Alarm. I will be fitting Door, Window, Shutter Locks, Safe, PiR lights etc.

Can you recommend any Local (pref british) Supply and Fitter of Door and Window Bars ?

and anything else you may think i should fit or consider ?

They are devistated .. also she is in hospital .. they were until this living their dream and we wonder if they may cut their losses and move back to the UK

Just reading this now and bumping for you so maybe someone can help. Terrible thing to happen but I hope they manage to stay on and live out their dream.

Lock your gates grills etc is very important but you cannot whack good neighbours who know you may be away are alert, assuming you have neighbours.

In a previous life my job brought me into contact with a lot of "Unsavoury" characters.
Some of the advice they gave me was...
A barking dog is better than any burglar alarm.
A dummy burglar alarm is as good as a real one.(if a burglar attacks a house with an alarm then he knows he can overcome it)
Make your house look less inviting to burgle than your neighbours.Harsh but true.

Oddly enough, I was once told by a security consultant that a burglar alarm indicates that you have something worth stealing.

We have recently been the victim of house break in. We had all the outside lights on and some inside. They removed a grill from a downstairs window and managed to get through the closed window. Our home is in full view of a main road . No one heard or saw anything which we found strange. We have lived in Spain for nearly twelve years and never had any trouble. All we can think of is that we were being watched when we went out. All jewelry was taken and thankfully no inside damage. Just be aware and extra vigilant.
