Our neighbours had their house trashed on Wednesday night, they had gone out for a meal and had taken all the necessary safety precautions with regard to locking the house, securing the windows etc. The thieves, cut through the metal grills, lifted the shutter and took out the windows. They emptied draws, cupboards etc looking for money and jewellery. The house was a mess. So be extra vigilent when you go out.

Never nice to hear, and selfishly even less so as that’s not too far from me.

Sounds like regardless how vigilant one might be, these were determined thieves that resorted to extreme lengths with little more a homeowner could do to safeguard the house

Simple low cost solution that would have helped would be to get the screw bolt that goes through the two windows at the metal edge in the centre this prevents the windows being lifted out. We were lucky ours were already fitted when we purchased our home.
Never good to hear of things like burglaries.

There are also metal clips that go on the shutters inside that are very useful - not sure what they are called but ferretorias sell them.
