We plan to visit Quesada next week. How are you all doing in the current hot spell? Any special advise for a couple of 70 year olds?

If you come out, prepare for xtreme heat! Don't go out between 12 and 5.Do all your shopping in one visit for the week.

Sounds a bit dramatic walnut its not that bad just a little warmer than normal. If you have a car you can always go to Carrafor for a cool down in the mid afternoon after all you don't come to Spain for the cold weather! just drink plenty of water ;)

from a pair of mid 60 year olds; yep it's unseasonably hot.........drink plenty (not alcohol, well until the evening), use aircon if you have it to cool your bedroom, swim often and most of all ENJOY!!!!

And today at 1530, the temp here in Quesada hit 40C. That's 104F for those of a certain age. And, yes, it does feel hot.

El Pais has warned this heatwave will last another week. Average temp for this time of the year is around 30C but has risen to 40C. Apparently, in Madrid, the ambient temperature is 50C due to the pavements heating up and the exhaust from cars. Must be horrendous.
They suggest sticking sheets in the freezer (in a bag) to help you sleep, using a "cold water bottle", sleeping alone and sleeping outside if you can as, although the night time temp may go down to 26C, the heat is trapped inside the houses so it doesn't cool down that much.
They also say putting a bowl of ice water in front of a fan will help cool you down and hanging a damp sheet over the windows. Not going out betwee 1200 and 1700 (bit drastic) and making sure you wear a hat and a good, high factor suncream.
Personally, I'm going to stick the aircon on and hope the electric bill doesn't go through the roof.
On the plus side, sticking the washing outside and it's dry within 20 minutes.

18 degrees, raining, windy, cloudy and grim here. (Norfolk, England). I know where I would rather be. However hot it is...
