We have lived here over 17 years & use these buses quite regularly yet we rarely, if ever, see other people (other than Spanish people) on them. A couple of years ago there was a free yes FREE bus service every Wednesday & Friday from Rojales to the Habaneras shopping centre, again my wife & I used this service most weeks, sometimes we walked into Torrevieja & then back to Habaneras for the bus back, almost EVERY week we were the only people on these buses.
I asked in the information office in Habaneras both last year & this if the buses would be running again, the answer, NO because NO ONE USED THEM!!!!
Much the same as the bus service Martin was talking about that used to run around Quesada years ago, again NO ONE USED THEM.
It seems quite clear that whilst people complain about the lack of public transport, when it IS made available NO ONE USES IT.

Dave.
We always use the buses and try out every route we can and have had no end of enquiries about buses in all the years of having this forum.
The Habaneras bus was full each time we used it. It was only a small bus and many people were upset when it finished almost before it had got properly started. It was not stopped through lack of use IMO, I believe it was stopped because the Habaneras centre was paying for it and it had served its purpose of getting the centre advertised and people in there when it opened. If it was running now it would get enough people using it but there would be no point in the Habaneras paying for it as the centre is busy enough as it is, with buses coming from other areas.
There are a few bus routes that are desperately needed in Quesada, one is a Summer (June to September) dedicated beach bus service from Quesada and another is a La Zenia Boulevard bus - Apparently Rosa Tours started one a couple of years ago, they did not advertise it nor tell any local forums about it and it ran for a couple of weeks with hardly any passengers until they stopped it. I only found out about it when I enquired asking if Rosa Tours would think about doing a bus service there, after lots of people had said on the forum that they would like one, and they said they had done that for a few weeks and no one used it! How could anyone use it when they didn't know about it?
Torrevieja runs a fantastic bus service to everywhere including around all the local urbanisations and beaches along the coastline and the services are very popular, but the bus running into Torrevieja from Quesada is quite intermittent. We often use it but it's not very regular and takes some planning.
It is strange that where buses do have good services they are popular but it appears that they don't and haven't given Quesada a chance - Quesada is more popular now than it's ever been but still does not even have a proper urbanisation bus route. The one that was planned to run around Quesada years ago was started when the area was just starting up and not half as popular as it is now so no wonder that the service wasn't used much but why stop it completely in such a short time after putting new bus stops all around the local areas including Dona Pepa . They could have just run a few buses each day and then added more buses/times as it became used.
I'm afraid that Quesada when it comes to public transport will always be the baby brother suburb of Rojales, even though it is bigger and more spread out than Rojales these days and growing even bigger with all the new building work going on. Rojales has a very good bus service, so why is Quesada still so lacking in buses?
