Has anyone used this station? Do you know if you have to pay for car parking and if so, how much? We are thinking of parking the car there and catching the train to Alicante.

We often use this station to go to Alicante. No charge for parking.

Do you park for a day, i.e. about 9 hours? Can I ask how much you pay?

I think sunworshipper meant to say "No charge for parking". Certainly there weren't any parking charges last October when we parked there and took the train to Alicante for the day. Just over €5 each ida y vuelta (return) for the train tickets I seem to remember.

We did just last week. No charge for parking. €6.30 return. Just be careful on the way back as the train on the way there referred to the station being called San Isidro but on the way back was referred to as Albecete/Catral although same station. We found it confusing for first timers.

Because then we are fixed by times and cant please ourselves how long we stay there.

Iain and TootandPloot - thanks for clarifying the parking and thanks TootandPloot for the very useful info about the station names. It is very confusing as you can Google both Albatera-Catral station and San Isidro and they appear to be 2 different ones.
