Hi,

A free bus service between Quesada and Rojales is starting from January 19 according to the Ayuntamiento Rojales Facebook page.

Let's use it or lose it. It may be only one bus there and one bus back but it's a good start and clear time table for a change. If it gets used maybe they will do a few more like it, to other places (not necessarily free!). Guardamar would be good - Yes there is a Guardamar bus but it's quite a haphazard service and without a good timetable like this.

Be interested to see how this goes.

For those who say buses don't get the people, look at the free bus/coach to the market on Thursdays (2 buses there and 2 buses back). Always quite busy and in Spring and Summer it's often packed out. I don't think it's just because it's free, although that's nice, I believe it's because it's always there and people know they can rely on it. I may be wrong but even paying a euro or so each I think people will still use it.

Good bus services would get used IMO but they need to get a reputation of being generally reliable and that takes time and publicity.

The coach company of Rosa Tours did a La Zenia bus once (a couple of years back) and did not publicise it. I only knew when I asked if they would think of doing one and the answer was "We put one on and no one used it"....WHAT....this forum was well established then and none of our thousands of members had heard of it!!

This is copied from the forum in 2017... There are a few bus routes that are desperately needed in Quesada, one is a Summer (June to September) dedicated beach bus service from Quesada and another is a La Zenia Boulevard bus - Apparently Rosa Tours started one a couple of years ago, they did not advertise it nor tell any local forums about it and it ran for a couple of weeks with hardly any passengers until they stopped it. I only found out about it when I inquired asking if Rosa Tours would think about doing a bus service there, after lots of people had said on the forum that they would like one, and they said they had done that for a few weeks and no one used it! How could anyone use it when they didn't know about it?

Well this is a good start, unfortunately with only one bus going each way per day with no particularly useful rhyme nor reason as to that specific timing ( it would be good for the Thursday market, but there's already a Thursday market bus, unless this is going to replace it...) I am doubtful it will end up being heavily used ( much as I like Rojales, I'd struggle to kill 3 hours there in the morning which is what's required to do the bus there and bus back. Unless people have suggestions??? Why do you think they may have come up with this timing?

It could be that there are lots of buses that leave from Rojales and it gives people the link between these and possibly time to get back afterwards. Just a thought. Also could be good for the Tapas route or just for a lunch in a Rojales restaurant.

Sadly there are not very many buses from Rojales these days either ( and they have just reduced the Rojales to Alicante route from 3 per day down to 1 per day. With the 1 per day leaving around 1pm so this is not exactly a connecting bus... ) Would be great if the bus time allowed for a lunch etc but the timing is more like a late breakfast.... . Still, it could be useful for folk perhaps wanting to do some business at the Ayuntamiento, assuming the morning hours are better for that. And maybe if it did get used there'd be a chance of more. I suppose it shows willing on the part of the town hall even if the times aren't great.

Actually some more info for you debbslad. Agostense go from close to the arches to Guardamar and back, have just looked up the timetables ( see link here http://agostense.es/res/uploads/Horario ... rdamar.pdf )
From what I can see, on School days buses TO Guardamar pass Ciudad Quesada at 10.50, 13.00, 14.35, 15.30 and 20.15. Not so many BACK the way via Quesada, only buses leaving Guardamar at 9.45am then 18.00 and 1915. ( There are a few more but they bypass Quesada going straight to Benijofar and then Rojales). Have attached a pic of the time timetable and also a pic of the list of stops.

Also I was really pleased to see that Agostense have reinstated the full timetable through Rojales to Alicante ( about a month ago it was all down with only one bus a day... but now running 4 a day- great for a day out in Alicante !) I attach the pic of that timetable for anybody interested , also the live web link is here http://agostense.es/res/uploads/Horario ... moradi.pdf
