Has anyone used Petra Honig's legal team. I know everyone says 'use your own independent Lawyer' but I wonder if anyone had used their services?

It's not a matter generally of whether an Agent solicitor is good or not, it's just that it's a conflict of interest to use the Agents solicitor. The Agents will be either selling or helping you buy a property and their Solicitor will be working for them (mainly in their interest!).

By you having an independent solicitor company, they will be working solely in your interest.

Some people may say all went well using an Agent's solicitor but, for any eventuality, it is still safer and in your interest to have a legal team that you have instructed to work for you independently.

Good post Jan. That said any professional lawyer and I mean a lawyer and not just someone that just takes care of the purchase or selling paperwork will I'd imagine not taint their professional integrity and reputation to keep an agent happy. In the boom days when lawyers only needed one agent to earn their living this was probably true. Now I'm sure that it's not. There are so many agents and lawyers now that reputation is everything. Also in my opinion it depends on many factors, is the person doing the work an actual lawyer? If not you have no insurance comeback if you're wrongly advised. Are they employed by the agency or are they simply recommended by the agency? I would think that will be the first two questions to ask. My recommendation is to leave the guesswork out of it and use an independent lawyer. There are many good ones around but as usual I would highly commend SGM Abogados in Benijofar. Good luck in your eventual purchase.
