If you were in a position to take the advice of Jan regarding keeping a hold of something in the UK, that to me will be the best advice you get on here.
So many people have said to me over the years that their only regret was not having a base back in the UK to go back to as and when needed. I know this may not be an option, though its a fantastic one to have if possible. Best wishes on whatever you decide.

Try and keep a foothold in the property market in the UK so you always have the insurance of returning one day, or just even for visits. We budgeted for this into our overall calculations from the house sale.
