Insurance renewals

I note that in Spain my insurances (house/car etc) all renew without even a notification in advance. In the UK I am used to having an email in advance and gives me a chance to shop around to see if the renewal is competitive.

I presume that the only way to avoid this is to manually note the renewal dates for each policy, shop around and then if you want to change, notify the existing insurer that you don't want to renew?

Like many things financially in Spain I find the approach of waking up to suddenly find a chunk of money gone from your bank account a bit frustrating with no prior notification of that intention!

They only have to notify you if the poilcy has changed or gone up in cost and must give you 2 months notice you must give 1 months notice if you wish to cancel

Try paying via credit card and refuse auto renewal. They'll email you prior to renewal but it may be only 1 month before it's due.
We use our phone calendar to keep track of house, car & health insurance. this gives you plenty of time to get competitive quotes & price match.
