Please can anyone tell me what is the best bank to use in Spain, it is only to pay my mortgage and household bills out of and keep my euros in when visiting Spain.

Thank you xx

Personally I would recommend Bankia.

I would definitely say that La Caixa is the best. I have accounts in several banks, but la Caixa at the gates of Quesada is the best without a doubt. Their online banking allows you to do 90% of what you'll ever need to, but the branch is super helpful if you need them. Good luck

I agree with newchocs, La Caixa are both convenient and really helpful, Assuming you live in the Benimar/Quesada area

As per newchocs and Norfolk ... I have had good experiences with La Caixa at the arches in Quesdada and the manager Sven has been really helpful. Staff speak good English too..

Can you tell me what the charges are at La Caixa. I am with Bankinter and they charge 56 euro a year just for having the current account with 2 direct debits.

Bankinter has always been the highest charging bank I think. We had an account with them in the early days of owning our Spanish house and closed it just after we moved in as the money we put in was dwindling away by the charges before we had even used the account. We have Sabadel now and are very happy with the services- charges are reasonable, online website is very good and the branch in Quesada is very helpful and speaks English.
