Quick question...can I deposit money into a Spanish (La Caixa) bank account without an NIE?

I've been told that's OK - it's just that I can't do anything with that money until the NIE comes through.

Seems more sensible to put cash into an account to gain a little interest, instead of leaving it in a currency exchange...!

You used to be able to best to just ask as the rules change all the time in Spain.

You will not get much intress on any account ,even if you could . Think you will need an nie .
