La Caixa, we have been with them for five years since we arrived in Spain. No problems at all, very helpful. We would recommend them.

Almost everyone will tell you the best bank is the bank they are with, so in the end it's better to go personally into each bank you are recommended (at a quiet time) and ask them for list of charges and whatever else you need to know. I personally would want to know about their online banking service as that is important to me as Non Resident - Some companies in Spain, including possibly some banks, are still be a bit 'old school' in this way and that will not suit everyone. See if their communication and service is good enough for you.

I recommend Sabadell as we are very pleased with them (after using three other banks) but as you are leaving them you don't want my recommendation.

La Caixa. Good service, friendly staff and good on-line banking. Been with them for 5 years with no problems at all.

I am with la caixa great on line service and customer service in branch.
