I've just been informed by my new solicitor that my original NIE certificate should be updated - it was issued 20 years ago.
Has anyone done this, and how long does it take?
Thanks for any info.

Hi. Had to update my NIE of 30 years recently. Once at Orihuela police station the process took about 15 mins. The hard bit is getting an appointment, I left that to Sunflower Costa Blanca in Benijofer.

Thanks for the info. Was there a long delay in getting an appointment?

I'm not in Spain all that often and it looked liked being a couple of months for me to get an appointment. I left it with Sunflower and they had a cancellation for the very next day at Orihuela. I was so lucky and I beleive Orihuela is one of the few offices that will accept a change of name for the appointment. I beleive a few weeks wait for the appointment is the norm.
