Switch accounts

Do Spanish banks offer a switching service similar to UK banks? I want to set up an account in my name only and switch all direct debits from our joint account to my account.

When we switched from Bankinter to Bancaja (as was) they didn't do it. However, the old bank printed off a list of our direct debits etc along with the reference codes. The new bank then set up the direct debits based on those.
The only thing that we had to do ourselves, for some reason, was the administrators for community fees but that was easy as I just popped in and gave them the new bank details.

Thank you Marcliff. I want to stay with Sabadell and I presume I can open an account while in the UK as I don't know when I am able to come back to Spain as my husband is terminally ill. I assume then I can contact them to send me a list of DD's and I can move them to my new account? Sorry I should add that our joint account is with Sabadell also.

You need to get proper advice on this as it saves a lot of problems when you are on your own. BBVA were very helpful and changed the Account into my name when we knew my husband wasn't going to live. He had to sign a letter. I expect all Banks have their own rules.
